
OLONGAPO CITY — Two 17-year-old college students drowned after they were swept away by strong currents while swimming off the shoreline in the capital town of Iba amid persistent rains brought by the southwest monsoon (Habagat).
According to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), one of the victims, identified as Rayven Sicad, was recovered on Monday while search and rescue operations continued for another student who remained missing.

The PCG said it received a report on Monday that three individuals had been swept away by strong currents while swimming along the shoreline of Sitio Corocan in Barangay Lipay-Dingin-Panibuatan as rough sea conditions persisted.
One of the victims was rescued alive, while authorities recovered Sicad’s body before 6 p.m. Search and rescue operations for the second student continued as of Tuesday./coa
