MANILA, Philippines — National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Director Melvin Matibag on Tuesday assured an autopsy and investigation into the death of the Grade 4 student in Cavite after a routine deworming activity at their school.
This came after the student’s parents, Leo and Rutchie Mission, arrived at the NBI Homicide Division on Monday to seek assistance regarding the cause of the death of their child.

“When we have the findings already, we will inform, first the family of course, and if it is allowable already, we will inform the public through the media,” Matibag stated.
The Department of Education earlier released a statement saying initial findings noted that the student died due to an infection that led to septic shock.
Meanwhile, after their appearance at the NBI Homicide Division on Monday, the student’s father told reporters that their son did not have any illness prior to the school’s deworming activity.
Mission emphasized that he intends to request an autopsy for the body of his 8-year-old son.
