Lilo & Stitch Star Daveigh Chase's Cause of Death Revealed
New details have come to light about Daveigh Chase’s assets.
After the Lilo & Stitch voice actor’s June 16 death, probate documents obtained by E! News state that she died without a will, leaving behind an estate valued at an estimated $400,000.
Per the filings submitted to Los Angeles County Superior Court July 8, Chase’s estate referred to her belongings as "personal property" worth the six-figure amount, noting that otherwise she had no "real property."
Because The Ring actress—who suffered from homelessness at the time of her death, according to the docs—did not have a will in place when she died, her mother Cathy Chase is petitioning to be appointed administrator of the estate under California’s Independent Administration of Estates Act as well as a $400,000 bond.
A probate hearing has been scheduled for August 12 in Los Angeles County Superior Court.
Daveigh died at the age of 35 from an acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS)-related illness, with substance abuse considered a "significant condition" contributing to her death, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner records viewed by E! News.
Daveigh (born Daveigh Schwallier) died in the hospital, per the records. Officials listed her manner of death as natural.
The Spirited Away voice actor’s boyfriend Roy Hernandez previously shared insight into Daveigh’s final days, telling TMZ she battled meningitis and a blood infection before her organs ultimately shut down after developing sepsis. He also shared that she was recently hospitalized due to malnutrition.

"Behind the scenes, she's faced more than her share of hardship," Roy wrote on GoFundMe. "After a difficult childhood and a painful falling out with her family, Daveigh was bullied and struggled to find safety and happiness in downtown LA."
"When we met, I promised to protect her and give her the love and comfort she deserved," he continued. "Together, we found moments of happiness and hope."
According to Cathy, Daveigh’s battle with addiction began in 2016 after she was prescribed painkillers for a back injury stemming from a 2016 motorcycle accident, which marks the same year she last received an acting credit in the indie thriller American Romance.
"She was seeking drugs and was partying with the wrong people," Cathy told the Daily Mail in a June 19 interview. "I never kicked my daughter out. She wanted freedom and these people got her hooked on some drugs."
She added, "It upsets me because people are saying I must've been a bad mother, but I never gave up on her. As a mother, you don't give up on your child. I was hoping she would still come home."
