Convicted hitman Vince Muscat, known as Il-Koħħu, has told jurors that he and Alfred Degiorgio went looking for former minister Chris Cardona at Ferdinand’s Bar in Siġġiewi shortly before their arrests in connection with the assassination of Daphne Caruana Galizia.
Testifying on day 12 of Yorgen Fenech’s trial by jury, Muscat said the pair went to the bar because they were “probably” looking for some type of assistance, although he could not remember the exact reason.
He told the court they did not find Cardona there.
During cross-examination, defence lawyer Dr Giannella De Marco also asked Muscat whether he remembered seeing lawyer Edward Gatt and Cardona together at Ferdinand’s Bar, and whether he had previously testified that they regularly frequented the establishment.
Muscat replied that he did not remember.
The testimony forms part of Muscat’s evidence under oath during the ongoing jury trial. Yorgen Fenech has pleaded not guilty to charges that he masterminded Daphne Caruana Galizia’s assassination.
