Two dead in truck crash at Heathcote, north of Melbourne

Two people have been killed in a truck crash in the central Victorian town of Heathcote, north of Melbourne overnight.

A car and a truck collided on the McIvor Highway about 9.45pm.

The two people in the car died at the scene.

The male truck driver was not injured.

The intersection of Northern Highway and McIvor Highway was closed overnight, but has since reopened.

Police are appealing for dash-cam footage from anyone who may have been driving in the area just before the fatal crash.
