Pregnant Barbara Palvin, Dylan Sprouse Reveal Sex of First Baby
Barbara Palvin is getting candid on the not so suite side effects of pregnancy.
As the pregnant model and her husband Dylan Sprouse prepare to welcome their first child together—a baby girl—Palvin admitted that she struggled with the way her body was changing because of the pregnancy, especially as she was scarred from years of dealing with body issues in the public eye.
“That scar came back where I was like, oh the number on the scale really going up super quick and my arms are getting bigger,” Palvin shared on the July 14 episode of the Wildmen podcast alongside her husband. “You don’t have a bump yet, but your stomach is bigger, and your pants don’t fit. I started spiraling.”
And while she felt very “weird” about the changes, she was very grateful to have Sprouse by her side.
“This is when it’s important that you have a good partner,” the 32-year-old said. “Dylan was there reminding me every single time that we’re creating life.”
For Palvin, much of the stress she felt about her body stemmed from spending over 20 years in the spotlight as a model and having her body constantly discussed.
“I started when I was 13. By 17, every single time I would go into the agency, they would tell me I have to lose weight. My hips were too big,” she recalled. “I didn’t even have hips yet.”

“I’ve been already scarred for constantly getting commented on my body,” Palvin added. “From my agency—from the industry in general to lose weight. Lose weight, be skinnier, do this, do that. I was trying to do all that. I was dieting. I was eating unhealthy. I was going crazy ‘cause I would think like, ‘Oh my god, I'm in such a good shape.’”
But her self-doubt took a turn when she booked a modeling gig with Victoria’s Secret.
“I’m like, ‘F--k yeah, it's working out,’” she remembered. “And then they put the label on me that, ‘Oh, she's the first plus-sized model.’”
And while she noted it is certainly not hurtful to be considered a plus-size model, it did hit her slightly harder as she didn’t consider herself one and had been “torturing” herself to fit into the category of a straight size model.

Of course, once she did lose weight, she found that the body shamers started criticizing her the other way, saying, “I started posting pictures and then I started getting a comments, ‘Oh my god, why is she so skinny?’”
Overall, Palvin—who married Sprouse in 2023—still can’t wrap her head around the constant criticism of her body.
“I get it in a sense like, I’m a public figure, I’m a model, so I am working with my body, so that should give them the right to comment on my body,” she reasoned. “But I never felt the need to comment on anyone’s body, or if I had nothing nice to say, I didn’t say, I just kept it to myself.”
