READ: Marcoleta, Defensor arrive for July 15 Sandiganbayan plunder hearing
Earlier on Wednesday, the Sandiganbayan Third Division ordered Marcoleta committed to the jail facility in view of the findings of the Philippine National Police General Hospital (PNPGH), which cleared the senator of mild pneumonia, and the Philippine General Hospital, which found him fit to travel.
Marcoleta was arrested last week but was confined at the PNPGH after complaining of chest pains and was subsequently found to have mild pneumonia.
The senator faces a non-bailable plunder case in connection with a P75-million donation he received from former Anakalusugan party-list Rep. Mike Defensor and businessmen Aristotle Viray and Joseph Espiritu just before the campaign period for the 2025 midterm elections.
Defensor, Viray, and Espiritu were also arrested last week and committed to the Quezon City Jail. /mcm
