Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia’s National Resilience Institute (Lemhannas) unveiled a plan to send 25 regional government leaders enrolled in its educational program to Singapore to observe best practices in public service improvement.
“They will visit the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore to receive insights, particularly on public services such as education, health, and waste management,” Lemhannas Governor Ace Hasan Syadzily said on Wednesday.
Addressing the press in Central Jakarta, he explained that the Singapore visit forms part of the third batch of the Regional Leadership Strengthening Course (KPPD) program, scheduled to run from July 15 to 18, 2026.
Syadzily highlighted that the 25 regional heads would have the opportunity to learn from Singapore in pursuing good governance and enhancing the quality of public services in their respective regions, including through the adoption of digital administrative systems.
Prior to departure, he continued, the KPPD participants will undergo a one-week training course at Lemhannas, starting on Wednesday.
He further explained that the institute would provide the regional leaders with lessons designed to instill values critical for good governance, including nationalism, integrity, and leadership.
The group will then travel to Singapore after completing the course before presenting the outcomes of their learning to the Human Resource Development Agency of the Ministry of Home Affairs, he added.
The Lemhannas governor expressed hope that the intensive capacity-building program would produce high-quality leaders capable of advancing their regions and improving the welfare of their constituents.
A total of 23 district heads and two mayors from several provinces nationwide are participating in the KPPD program.
They represent Sinjai, Banjarnegara, West Kotawaringin, Biak Numfor, Manokwari, Intan Jaya, Mimika, Central Maluku, Tanimbar Islands, Central Halmahera, Morotai Island, Lembata, East Flores, West Sumbawa, Central Hulu Sungai, Sukamara, Aceh Besar, Seluma, Polewali Mandar, Muaro Jambi, Kerinci, Lebak, West Tulang Bawang Barat, Lhokseumawe, and Pangkalpinang.
