40-Year-Old Worker Dies After Tiles Collapse On Him In Qormi Warehouse

A 40-year-old Nigerian man from Birżebbuġa has died after a quantity of tiles collapsed onto him while he was working inside a warehouse in Qormi this morning.

The fatal incident happened at around 8.30am in Triq il-Wied.

A medical team and members of the Civil Protection Department were called to the scene to assist, but the man was pronounced dead on site.

Duty Magistrate Dr Monica Borg Galea has launched a magisterial inquiry, while police investigations are ongoing.

The Occupational Health and Safety Authority (OHSA) is also investigating the circumstances surrounding the workplace accident.
