
The NSO said visitors spent a total of 2.59 million nights in Malta during the month, with 88% of guest nights spent in rented accommodation establishments.
Tourist expenditure also continued to rise, reaching an estimated €419.9 million in May alone.
Between January and May 2026, Malta recorded 1,673,602 inbound tourists, who collectively spent 9.2 million nights on the islands.
According to the NSO, total tourist expenditure during the first five months of the year reached an estimated €1.34 billion, while average spending per tourist stood at €800.
