Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's realized investment reached a record Rp1,931.2 trillion (about US$120.7 billion) in 2025, exceeding the government's Rp1,905.6 trillion (US$119.1 billion) target as downstream industries and projects outside Java drove growth.
The total rose 12.7 percent from a year earlier and created jobs for 2.71 million workers, up 10.4 percent year on year, Investment and Downstreaming Minister Rosan Roeslani said on Wednesday.
"We achieved these milestones while maintaining accountable and transparent management of state finances and assets," Rosan told a parliamentary hearing in Jakarta.
Domestic investment accounted for 53.4 percent of the total, or Rp1,030.3 trillion (US$64.4 billion), while foreign investment contributed 46.6 percent, or Rp900.9 trillion (US$56.3 billion).
Projects outside Java attracted 51.3 percent of total investment, or Rp991.2 trillion (US$61.9 billion), surpassing Java's Rp940 trillion (US$58.8 billion) for the first time.
West Java attracted the largest investment among provinces at Rp296.8 trillion (US$18.5 billion), followed by Jakarta with Rp270.9 trillion (US$16.9 billion).
Downstream industries remained central to the government's economic strategy of increasing domestic processing of natural resources.
Realized downstream investment reached Rp584.1 trillion (US$36.5 billion) in 2025, up 43.3 percent from a year earlier and accounting for 30.2 percent of total national investment.About 71 percent of downstream projects were developed outside Java, Rosan said.
"This demonstrates our commitment to creating greater domestic value while promoting more balanced regional development," he said.
Most downstream investment flowed into mineral processing, heavy industry and agriculture.
Central Sulawesi attracted Rp110 trillion (US$6.9 billion) in downstream investment, followed by North Maluku with Rp74.8 trillion (US$4.7 billion), reinforcing both provinces' roles in global nickel, electric vehicle and clean energy supply chains.
