Jesy Nelson Confirms She and Fiancé Zion Foster Broke Up Amid Twins’ “Traumatic” Health Battle
Zion Foster is tired of all the ugly things people say.
After his upcoming song about fatherhood led to commenters accusing him of abandoning his family, the 26-year-old, who shares 14-month-old twins Ocean Jade and Story Monroe with ex Jesy Nelson, defended himself.
In his July 15 teaser of the song, Foster, alluded to how he and the Little Mix alum, who confirmed their breakup in February, have navigated their daughters’ spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) Type 1 diagnosis, singing, “I’m out of my depth, I’m out of my mind, I’m drowning in pain.”
But after the backlash, the “Intro (Real Love)” artist attempted to correct the record, saying the misinterpretations of his lyrics have been “incredibly painful because they simply aren't true.”
“When I said I was ‘out of my depth,’” Foster wrote in a July 15 Instagram Story, “I wasn't saying I was walking away from my children or abandoning my responsibilities as a father. I was talking about the overwhelming reality of suddenly facing a rare and complex medical diagnosis that I knew nothing about.”
And the “Blessing” singer emphasized his commitment to parenting, saying, “I love my girls more than words could ever express. They are my world and always will be.”
Beyond sharing his journey with his twins’ SMA diagnosis, Foster also opened up about co-parenting with the “Wasabi” singer while coping with the end of their relationship, claiming that Nelson had decided to call it quits.
“The end of a relationship does not mean the end of fatherhood,” he added in a second Story post. “Jesy made the decision to end our relationship, and although I respect that, it does not change the fact that I remain committed to my daughters in every way l possibly can.”

Although the relationship was under a lot of stress following their kids’ diagnosis, the 34-year-old—who is releasing a documentary about her daughters’ condition called Jesy Nelson: Life Changing on July 17—previously said their split was amicable.
“We have been through such a traumatic experience and for us, our girls are our main priority and our main focus,” Nelson told Daily Mail in an interview published Feb. 2. “We want to give them the most positive, happy and uplifting time and energy and because we have both been through such a traumatic experience, the energy wasn't right between us, which is understandable.”
