
MANILA, Philippines — An effusive eruption was recorded in Mayon Volcano for the 192nd day on Thursday, July 16, the Philippine Institution of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.
Footage released by Phivolcs captured the strombolian activity in the summit crater of the Mayon Volcano and pyroclastic density current from 2:42 a.m to 3:11 a.m.
“Effusive eruption at Mayon Volcano continues for the 192nd consecutive day, generating incandescent lava flows and rockfalls,” Phivolcs said in a Facebook post.

According to its 24-hour monitoring, Phivolcs logged 168 volcanic earthquakes, including 13 volcanic tremors, 293 rockfalls, and 15 pyroclastic density current signals. The volcano also released around 8,050 tons of sulfur dioxide on Wednesday, reaching 1,800 meters from the crater.
