England fans in Auckland have been left heartbroken after their team was knocked out of the Football World Cup by Argentina.
The Three Lions went up 1-0 in the 55th minute, but Argentina fought back to win 2-1 after putting pressure on the English defence for most of the second half.
England supporter Jackson Bramstone was cheering the team on at The Fox pub in Auckland, which was packed out with noisy fans.
"I'm really proud of the boys no matter what they did. For a while I thought it was coming home there... kinda gutted but you know, we get better every year."
When England scored, the pub erupted into cheering and singing.
"Goals like that in a World Cup semi-final - you don't really get moments like that with that much excitement. It's a big mood lifter - you get really happy."
It was a shame their opponents managed to score two goals but overall they had played better than England, he said.
He was happy with the team's run, and looking forward to the next World Cup in 2030.
"We just keep getting better every year, and I can sense it's coming home soon."
Another England supporter at The Fox, Naomi Reynolds, said she was feeling "deflated" after the loss.
"We were finally thinking this could be our year after like four semi-finals, but [it's] not to be."
England were under a lot of pressure in the second half, Reynolds said.
"All the momentum was Argentina's way. I feel like the first goal was a bit inevitable, but then the second one... just gutted."
Argentina will play Spain in the World Cup final on 20 July at 7am (NZ time).
