
CEBU CITY, Philippines — The National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) placed the Visayas grid under a yellow alert for Thursday evening, July 16, as prolonged outages at major coal-fired power plants and rising electricity demand continued to strain the region’s power supply. In an advisory issued at 8 a.m., the NGCP said the yellow alert would be in effect from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., when electricity demand is expected to peak.
