
LUCENA CITY – A 34-year-old motorcycle rider died in a collision with a tourist bus along the Quirino Highway in Tagkawayan, Quezon, shortly after midnight on Thursday, police said.
The motorcycle struck the Manila-bound bus of the firm Cagsawa Travel and Tours Inc. after it veered from the opposite lane along Barangay Tabason at 12:05 a.m.

The 36-year-old bus driver reportedly swerved to the right in an attempt to avoid a collision, but the motorcycle still struck the left front portion of the bus.

The impact threw the rider from his motorcycle, causing severe head injuries that resulted in his death at the scene.
The police report did not indicate whether the victim was wearing a crash helmet, as required by the Motorcycle Helmet Act of 2009.
