Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Creative Economy explored a partnership with immersive art collective Imagispace to enliven Indonesia’s 81st Independence Day celebrations with interactive digital art experiences.
Hosting Imagispace representatives in Jakarta on Wednesday (July 15), Deputy Minister Irene Umar highlighted plans to promote Indonesian traditional games through an innovative format aligned with this year’s theme, “A Sovereign, Just, and Prosperous Indonesia.”
“Indonesia is truly rich in traditions, games, and culture. The challenge is how to package them digitally to provide unique, proud experiences capable of attracting Indonesian and international audiences,” she said in a statement cited on Thursday.
Umar voiced confidence that Imagispace has the capacity to leverage local intellectual properties through immersive digital experiences that resonate with the public across generations.
In addition to discussing interactive art installations for Independence Day, Wednesday’s meeting addressed broader challenges in the immersive entertainment industry.
The two sides exchanged views on technology investment, efforts to strengthen business models, and the importance of supporting local creative economy professionals in developing intellectual assets capable of competing globally.
According to the deputy minister, Imagispace could help strengthen Indonesia’s creative industry by pursuing initiatives that deliver lasting impacts, such as creating job opportunities, contributing to talent development, and building a suitable ecosystem for Indonesian digital visual arts to thrive.
Imagispace cofounder Mervi welcomed the ministry’s ideas, noting collaboration with the government as a crucial step to expand creative technology while promoting Indonesian arts to a wider audience.
She confirmed that Imagispace and the Creative Economy Ministry would proceed with a brainstorming session to prepare an Independence Day project ahead of the August 17 celebrations.
“Through collaboration with the Creative Economy Ministry, we aim to present digital art experiences that are not only entertaining but also showcase Indonesia’s cultural identity while creating wider opportunities for local creators,” she said.
