Sliema residents on Facebook have thanked police officers who monitored the return of party boats to shore, while calling for similar enforcement to become a regular occurrence throughout the summer.
In a statement, they said police were present as party boats entered the ferries area and urged authorities to maintain a daily presence whenever such vessels return from events at sea.
“This has to be a daily affair each time these boat parties enter,”
The group added that patrons should remain quiet as boats enter port, both to allow captains to hear instructions and out of consideration for nearby residents.
“On entering the port the patrons on the boats should be in silence to allow the captain to hear any orders given.”
They went on to criticise the behaviour of some individuals once they disembark, stating that partygoers “have to behave like normal human beings” after returning to land.
The comments come amid ongoing concerns over noise and disturbances linked to party boats operating around Malta’s coast during the summer months.
Do you think there should be a greater police presence when party boats return to Malta’s ports?
