
MANILA, Philippines – Mayon Volcano recorded another burst of lava and ash plumes as it enters its 192nd day of activity, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.

In a Facebook post, Phivolcs said the lava collapse, which was caused by an effusive eruption, was recorded between 5:04 a.m to 7:07 a.m on Thursday, July 16.

It added that the volcano also persists to generate incandescent lava flows and rockfalls.

An earlier volcanic activity was recorded by the state seismologist at 2:42 a.m to 3:11 a.m.
Phivolcs continues to maintain an Alert level 3 over Mayon volcano, indicating intensified unrest or a high level of volcanic activity. It added that entry within a 6 kilometer radius of the volcano remains strictly prohibited. Rendell Manuel, INQUIRER.net trainee /jpv
