Jakarta (ANTARA) - The governments of Indonesia and Iran are exploring opportunities to strengthen cooperation in vocational training, employment and social security systems, as well as expanding job opportunities for people with disabilities.
The initiative was discussed during a meeting between Indonesian Manpower Minister Yassierli and Iranian Minister of Cooperatives, Labour, and Social Welfare Ahmad Meydari on the sidelines of the BRICS Labour and Employment Ministers' Meeting (LEMM) in Hyderabad, India, on Wednesday (July 15).
In a statement received on Thursday, Yassierli said the initiative forms part of efforts to foster a more inclusive labor market while simultaneously enhancing workers' skills and welfare.
Yassierli noted that Indonesia welcomes the opportunity to expand bilateral collaboration in the labor sector through the exchange of knowledge, experience, and best practices that benefit both nations.
"We believe there is great potential for Indonesia and Iran to strengthen our collaboration through the exchange of knowledge, experience, and best practices for the benefit of both countries," he said.
During the meeting, Indonesia and Iran placed a specific focus on expanding employment access for people with disabilities.
They also exchanged views on policies that expand access to training, skill development, and equitable job creation.
Furthermore, through agreed comparative studies and knowledge exchanges, both countries are committed to supporting each other in improving the quality of job training to produce a more skilled and job-ready workforce.
Moreover, the two nations discussed efforts to bolster employment and social security systems.
Indonesia encouraged sharing experiences in developing policies and programs to expand social protection while improving workers' welfare.
Additionally, Yassierli conveyed Indonesia's readiness to share its experiences in labor policy reform, workforce development, vocational training, and labor market governance.
"We hope the ministries of both countries can explore concrete follow-up measures through technical exchanges, expert dialogues, and capacity-building programs," he said.
