Jodie Sweetin Reveals Daughter Zoie’s College Plans: "The Right Next Step for Her"
Oh mylanta, Jodie Sweetin’s oldest kiddo is off to college.
Indeed, Sweetin is sending her and ex Cody Herpin’s daughter Zoie, 18, off to her next chapter—but she won’t be flying too far from the nest.
“She wants to do community college,” the 44-year-old told The Dory Jackson Interview on July 15. “She wasn’t quite sure what she wanted to do, and she had an opportunity to play soccer somewhere at community college and get a scholarship.”
Her decision was a practical one, with Sweetin adding, “She was like, ‘Yeah, let me save some student debt and all of that while I’m figuring out what I want to do.’”
The Full House star, who is also mom to Beatrix, 15, with ex Morty Coyle, expressed pride in raising her kids with empathy and life skills—although she did allude to the one skill her eldest daughter still struggles with.
“She can't put the dishes in the dishwasher, but she's putting the pieces of her life together,” Sweetin quipped. “So, I'll take the small wins where I can get ‘em.”
Cutting out the jokes, the Dancing With the Stars alum is confident that Zoie’s got it, dude. In fact, Sweetin was careful not to pressure her into any specific path, allowing the teen to make the decision that was best for her.
“I'm so proud of her because this was absolutely, I think, the right next step for her,” she added. “I just wanted her to feel like she was in control of what comes next, you know? And not like the outside, what you're supposed to do, what mom is saying you should do, you know, all of that.”

But even with her oldest child transitioning into adulthood, Sweetin doesn’t think her full house will clear out any time soon.
“I don't think it'll ever be empty,” the Fuller House actress—who married husband Mescal Wasilewski in 2022—remarked. “Do we ever empty the nest these days? You know, hardly. At some point, my husband and I would like to move out of LA and that will obviously come once they're done with school and all that kind of stuff. I'd still want a place here so they can fight over who gets to stay in mom's condo or something.”
Still, she admits that life will have to change eventually, even if it’s a gradual shift. Luckily, Sweetin isn’t afraid of her daughters going out on their own.
“I'm not one of those parents who's been really afraid of their kids growing up,” she said. “If anything, I have enjoyed watching who they have become.”
