Charlyn Romero-Cantos, PSA Oriental Mindoro chief statistical specialist, said the improvement was driven mainly by the transport index, which rose at a slower annual pace of 11.4 percent in June from 15.8 percent in May.
Slower year-on-year increases were also noted in food and non-alcoholic beverages; housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels; and education services, all helping pull down the overall rate.
Inflation for households in the bottom 30% income bracket likewise eased to 8.5 percent in June, from 9.5 percent in May. For this group, the downtrend was led by housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, followed by food and non-alcoholic beverages, and transport services.
Meanwhile, the Mimaropa region posted a 5.2 percent inflation rate for June, while the national level stood at 6.4 percent. /jpv
