Humphry Slocombe, a San Francisco-based ice cream company, will team with Eli Roth to help promote his new horror film “Ice Cream Man.”
The company has created Brain Freeze, a limited-edition flavor inspired by the upcoming film, which will debut in theaters on August 7 through Roth’s company The Horror Section. Brain Freeze is described as a “playful nod to classic bubblegum ice cream with a delightfully twisted twist.” In this case, that twist is swirls of house-made strawberry jam. The company says the flavor is “equal parts nostalgic, colorful, and deliciously creepy.”
Some creameries might not want to be associated with a film with such a high body count. But in a statement, Sean Vahey, co-founder of Humphry Slocombe says, “We love creating ice cream that surprises people. When ‘Ice Cream Man’ came along, we couldn’t resist making something that’s just the right amount of delicious and unsettling. Brain Freeze looks and tastes incredible, and is guaranteed to be the most fun you’ll have screaming for ice cream this summer.”
“It’s been a pleasure to work with Sean and his amazing team, combining two of my deepest passions: horror films and ice cream.” said Roth. “We wanted to create a flavor both sublime and scoopable, but also gruesome and gory. No matter what I suggested, their appetite for the red stuff not only matched mine but went above and beyond.”
Brain Freeze will be available throughout the month of August at all eight Humphry Slocombe Bay Area scoop shops. It can also be ordered for nationwide delivery through Goldbelly.
