Netflix has unveiled couch co-op party game “Netflix Minigolf” as its next big bet in gaming.
Launching July 28, “Netflix Minigolf” is described as a mix between minigolf and pinball with a “Stranger Things” Demogorgon or Young-hee from “Squid Game” added in.
Developed by Netflix-owned gaming studio Next Games, the game features more than 60 levels set in the worlds of three of the streamer’s top IPs: “Stranger Things,” “Squid Game” and “Bridgerton.”
As players putt through rounds of minigolf, complete with Netflix characters, they will collect “Pranks” throughout each hole and can use those features on their opponents’ turns. And in this version of minigolf, the lowest score doesn’t always win.
“Netflix Minigolf” will be available to all Netflix subscribers at no added cost. The game will be accessible via the Netflix platform on compatible TVs. Players will use their phones as controllers that connect to the game through a QR code and up to four players can compete locally on the same TV.
The trio of IPs selected to be included in “Netflix Minigolf” are among the streamer’s most popular franchises of all time: Season 5 of “Stranger Things” was Netflix’s biggest opening week for an English-language series, recording 8.46 billion viewing minutes. “Squid Game” Season 3 holds the Netflix record for most views for a show in its first three days, with 60.1 million views across its six episodes. “Bridgerton” Season 4 hit 28 million views after the release of the second batch of episodes.
“Netflix Minigolf” marks the latest release from Netflix’s games division this summer. Netflix’s Next Games launched soccer simulation game “FIFA World Cup – Launch Edition” in June to kick off the 2026 World Cup on Netflix. And earlier this month, Netflix’s Night School Studio debuted horror game “Unhinged” in collaboration with David Fincher and Zach Cregger.
