Vardy: Ndidi, Iheanacho used ‘juju cream’ for injuries during Leicester days

Leicester City legend Jamie Vardy has revealed that his former Nigerian teammates at the club, Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho, used what he described as “juju cream” while playing for the Foxes.

Vardy made the revelation on his “Jamie Vardy’s Having A Party” podcast, saying both players used the cream to aid their recovery from injuries during their time with the former Premier League champions.

The former England international spent 13 years at the Midlands club from 2012 to 2025 and was teammates with Ndidi and Iheanacho from 2017.

Iheanacho left Leicester in 2024 after seven years, while Ndidi remained for another season before departing for Turkey. Vardy recalled seeing both Super Eagles stars use what he referred to as “juju cream.”

The discussion on the podcast, which Vardy launched last month, centred on a Ghanaian witch doctor’s failed predictions for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The self-acclaimed witch doctor had claimed he had tied Harry Kane’s boots, preventing the striker from scoring in England’s group-stage match against Ghana. Although the match ended goalless, Kane later scored twice against DR Congo, proving the prediction wrong.

The conversation prompted Vardy to recall his experiences with his Nigerian teammates. The striker, who scored 200 goals for Leicester, including 143 in the Premier League, said Ndidi and Iheanacho would travel to Nigeria to obtain the cream.

According to Vardy, the cream, which he said came from a “Nigerian witch doctor,” was the only treatment the pair allowed the club’s physiotherapists to apply to their minor injuries.

“It’s the juju cream. They used to get injured, just little knocks. They’d go back to Nigeria for like one day, literally, come back [with] a nice big tub of juju cream.

“And that was the only thing that the masseuses were allowed to massage on the injured area. And they used to tell us it had come from the Nigerian witch doctor,” Vardy said.

Another former Leicester teammate of the Nigerians, Christian Fuchs, who also featured on the podcast, added that the juju cream “actually helps,” saying both players regularly recovered after using it.

During their Leicester careers, Iheanacho suffered four major injuries, while combative midfielder Ndidi endured nine significant injury spells. Despite those setbacks, Iheanacho, popularly known as “Senior Man Kels,” made 232 appearances for Leicester, scoring 61 goals, while Ndidi featured in 273 matches and scored 17 goals.
