Conservative pundit Ben Shapiro said Thursday that Vice President Vance sounded similar to a Democrat on a recent episode of Joe Rogan’s podcast.
“I tuned into Joe Rogan yesterday and heard Bernie Sanders’ economics, Barack Obama’s foreign policy, and Ro Khanna’s conspiracy theories. And then I realized JD Vance was talking. I want a candidate in 2028 who doesn’t mirror the Democrats — and who can win,” Shapiro wrote on social media.
“Mr. VP, this is not the way,” he added.
On Wednesday, Vance sat with podcaster Joe Rogan for an expansive, nearly three-hourlong interview in which multiple political topics were brought up. It was Vance’s second appearance on “The Joe Rogan Experience.” Vance last appeared on the podcast one week prior to the 2024 presidential election.
Rogan and Vance discussed issues including files linked to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, the war with Iran and offensive comments from a UFC fighter about former first lady Michelle Obama.
During the interview, Vance told Rogan that there were Israeli officials who disliked the memorandum of understanding, a failed interim U.S.-Iran deal that would lead to a fully-realized peace deal.
“There are some people within their system, we know beyond a shadow of a doubt, who are manipulating and trying to change American public opinion to keep the war going on indefinitely,” Vance said. “Again, not towards any objective, but just indefinitely.”
Vance is often seen as one of the top candidates for the 2028 GOP presidential nomination, alongside Secretary of State Marco Rubio. When asked who should run between the two administration members in the New York Post’s “Pod Force One” podcast last month, Trump praised both Rubio and Vance.
“I like them both,” he said, adding, “and I like them together.”
Trump has also suggested Vance and Rubio run together on a joint GOP ticket in the next presidential election.
