Vehicle hits bollard outside Levin police station

A vehicle is believed to hit a bollard outside the Levin police station.

Police said they were responding to an incident at the station and one person was assisting them with inquiries.

A Levin resident said there appeared to have been a "bit of excitement" at the station earlier and it looked like a brick pillar and bollard outside the entrance to the station had been struck.

Cones were currently surrounding a large oil slick, they said.

A police spokesperson said "no damage has been reported and thankfully nobody has been injured".

Police later said initial enquiries "suggest a vehicle has collided with a bollard outside the station".

"We're continuing to investigate."
