
PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur – The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) intercepted a shipment of contraband cigarettes at Dapitan City port on Wednesday evening, concealed inside a passenger bus originating from Zamboanga City and bound for Bacolod City via a Ro-Ro vessel en route to Dumaguete City.
The Coast Guard Station Zamboanga del Norte on Friday said that their personnel, with other law enforcement units, discovered the illicit shipment during ship inspection at around 6:45 p.m.

Authorities uncovered 951 reams of assorted cigarette brands transported without the required customs and tax documents. The contraband is estimated to be worth P1.32 million when sold to consumers.

The seized items were secured for inventory and documentation before being turned over to the Bureau of Customs for appropriate legal disposition.
