
MANILA, Philippines — Freedom of expression does not give anyone a license to engage in racism or dehumanization, Senate President Sherwin “Win” Gatchalian said Friday as he condemned China Daily’s depiction of Filipinos as monkeys. “Freedom of expression, even in political disputes, is not a license to dehumanize people. Racism has no space in any society that values truth and civility,” Gatchalian said in a statement.
