The Bauchi State Government has declared commitment to establish strong partnerships with Tunisian authorities and investors on major development projects in the areas of electricity, water supply and security aimed at addressing critical infrastructure and socio-economic challenges.
Governor Bala Mohammed disclosed this when he held a bilateral meeting with a high-level Tunisian delegation led by the Tunisian Ambassador to Nigeria, Mohsen Antit, at the Government House Bauchi.
Speaking during the meeting, Governor Mohammed said the state government is prioritising off-grid solar power solutions to provide reliable electricity to hospitals, government offices and water facilities noting that the initiative would reduce dependence on fossil fuel-powered generators and improve the delivery of essential public services.
Mohammed also identified insecurity as a major challenge confronting the state, calling for the deployment of advanced surveillance technology to enhance forest monitoring and support security agencies in combating banditry.
Similarly, access to affordable and sustainable water supply featured prominently in the discussions, with the State Government seeking cost-effective technologies to expand potable water services to underserved local government areas without placing excessive financial burdens on residents.
Earlier in his remarks, the Tunisian Ambassador to Nigeria, Mohsen Antit, described the visit as part of efforts to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Tunisia and Nigeria adding that the delegation, made up of engineers and business leaders to effectively explore investment opportunities and assess the viability of proposed development projects.
The delegation earlier inspected key facilities across the state to evaluate the feasibility of the proposed projects before implementation decisions are made.
