2 separate fires hit Baguio; no injuries reported

BAGUIO CITY — Two separate fires broke out in Baguio on Thursday, and no one was hurt, according to the Baguio City Public Information Office (PIO) on Friday, citing information from the Baguio City Fire Station.

The first fire broke out at around 4:25 p.m. at a residential lodging house at Lower Brookside.

Supt. Mark Anthony Dangatan, the city fire marshal, said firefighters arrived at the scene five minutes after receiving the report and found thick smoke billowing from the second-floor basement of the wooden structure.

The blaze was declared under control at 4:40 p.m. and was fully extinguished by 4:50 p.m.

The blaze affected about six square meters of the structure where two families have been dwelling.

At around 5:40 p.m., another fire hit a residential house in Barangay San Roque.

Firefighters arrived at 5:45 p.m. and found that the occupants, with the help of neighbors, had already extinguished the fire using water after forcibly opening the affected portion of the house.

The second fire damaged about one square meter of the structure and involved one family.
