CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro — Following the notable drop in petroleum prices, the Calapan City government will revert to its regular 5-day workweek starting July 20.
Calapan Mayor Paulino Salvador Leachon announced the adjustment in a video blog posted on his Facebook page, saying his office will issue a formal memorandum to implement the change.
“Next week, we will return to the 5-day workweek to serve our people better,” Leachon stated in the video.

In a message on Friday (July 17), City Administrator Angel Navarro explained that the shift to a 4-day workweek in March was implemented to address concerns over unstable diesel supply.
“From April to June, the City Government adjusted in response to the energy crisis and the complications it brought. Amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, the City Government adopted cost-cutting measures,” Navarro said.
“Fuel prices reached their highest levels, but the feared fuel shortage never happened. That is why we are restoring the five working days from Monday to Friday next week, on July 20,” he added.
Confirming that the mayor is set to issue the official memorandum on Monday, Navarro said, “In the end, whether the City Government likes it or not, it will have to continue addressing the challenges posed by the energy crisis and its resulting complications.” /coa
