The Armed Forces of Malta (AFM) are set to strengthen their fleet with the addition of a fourth King Air aircraft, which is expected to arrive in Malta in 2027.
The aircraft has already been assembled and successfully flight-tested at Textron Aviation’s facilities in Wichita, Kansas, where AFM representatives oversaw its acceptance before it began its journey to Braunschweig, Germany.
There, it will undergo the installation of advanced surveillance and mission systems tailored to the AFM’s operational needs, including extensive testing and certification.
Once completed, the new King Air Maritime Patrol Aircraft will boost the AFM’s capabilities in aerial surveillance, maritime patrol, search and rescue operations and national security, helping strengthen Malta’s ability to monitor its area of responsibility and respond to emergencies at sea.
