Dog owners and animal lovers are being invited to take part in a charity sunset dog walk in Almancil, with participants encouraged to donate food and other essential supplies for pets in need.
The Cãominhada Sunset will take place at the Jardim das Comunidades on Friday, July 24, starting at 7pm, marking the first of three walks organised by Iron Dog Algarve dog school in partnership with Loulé Municipal Council as part of the Verão Ativo 2026 programme.
Held under the motto “Walking is good for you. Sharing moments makes a difference”, the event combines exercise, community spirit and a focus on animal welfare.
Throughout the walk, organisers will collect food and essential items for dogs and cats, with all donations distributed by Almancil Parish Council to local families struggling to care for their pets, as well as animal welfare organisations in the region.
The Almancil event is the first in a series of three charity dog walks. The second will take place on August 28 at Praça do Mar in Quarteira, followed by a third on September 4 in the Municipal Park of Loulé (Mata de Loulé), with both events also beginning at 7pm.
The walks form part of the 11th edition of Verão Ativo, which runs from June 15 to September 13 across Loulé, Quarteira and Almancil. This year’s programme includes more than 490 free sports and wellbeing activities aimed at encouraging healthy lifestyles.
Participation in the Cãominhada Sunset is free, and organisers are encouraging residents to bring their dogs, family and friends for an evening of exercise while supporting a good cause.
