Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Home Affairs Minister Bima Arya Sugiarto has underscored the importance of providing more opportunities for regional leaders to exchange ideas and learn from one another as they navigate the challenges of local governance.
Bima said governors and other regional leaders should meet more frequently to share experiences and best practices.
Such interactions, he added, would help them strengthen their leadership while inspiring peers across the country.
“Sharing sessions should be held more often. Solidarity and opportunities for interaction among regional leaders are important. Meetings such as those organized by the Association of All Indonesian Provincial Governments (APPSI) can encourage regional leaders to inspire one another and foster reflection,” Bima said in a statement received in Jakarta on Friday.
He made the remarks during an APPSI meeting held at Aruna Senggigi in West Lombok District, West Nusa Tenggara Province, on Wednesday.
According to Bima, gatherings among regional leaders are essential to strengthening solidarity amid increasingly complex governance challenges.
He noted that regional leaders are currently facing a range of pressures, including adjustments to fiscal transfers from the central government and the responsibility to fulfill campaign promises.
They are also required to operate in an environment where nearly every policy decision is subject to intense public scrutiny.
“The emotional burden carried by regional leaders is not easy. Pressure comes from every direction,” he said.
The meeting was also attended by National Resilience Institute (Lemhannas) Governor Ace Hasan Syadzily, Chairperson of the Purnomo Yusgiantoro Center (PYC) Filda C. Yusgiantoro, Chair of the PYC
Board of Trustees Inka B. Yusgiantoro, Head of the Ministry of Home Affairs' Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDM) Sugeng Hariyono, APPSI governors, and other government officials.
