Sister Wives' Madison Brush Promises To Break Family Patterns
Madison Brown Brush is breaking the cycles that didn’t suit her.
The Sister Wives’ star, the second eldest of Janelle Brown and Kody Brown’s six kids, candidly shared insight into how she’s changing it up when it comes to parenting her and husband Caleb Brush’s four kids.
“There are things my children will never be exposed to in our home and I made that decision long before they were born,” Brush—mom to Axel, 8, Evie, 6, Josephine, 3, and Emilia, 16 months—wrote in a recent Instagram post. “I knew at 13 years old that I didn’t want the life I was living.”
Indeed, Brush admitted she didn’t benefit from parts of her upbringing, adding, “I couldn’t change my circumstances then, but I could decide, with full certainty, what I would and wouldn’t carry forward.”
As for what the 30-year-old found necessary to change?
“No instability where there should be stability,” Brush continued. “No fear where there should be safety. No secrets where there should be honesty. No chaos disguised as normal.”
And while the former reality star has made it her mission to break the cycle, she admitted, “It’s not natural.”
“It takes a lot of intention to not repeat patterns,” Brush added. “It’s something I had to learn, and something I have to keep choosing, especially on the hard days.”
Nevertheless, she was determined that the problematic parts of her upbringing end with her, noting, “That part was decided a long time ago, and I’ve never once looked back on it.”

But Brush isn’t necessarily looking back in anger. Her latest reflection on her polygamous upbringing—her father also shares five children with wife Robyn Brown, six children with ex Christine Brown as well as one child with ex Meri Brown—comes less than a year after she said she was open to reconciling with her father amid their years-long estrangement.
“I am open to reconciliation and forgiveness and closure,” Brush clarified during a November episode of the TLC series. “But if he ever wanted to be let back into our lives, there would need to be a pattern of consistency.”
