
Actress and philanthropist, Rechael Okonkwo, popularly known as Nkoli Nwa Nsukka, has added author to her list of accomplishments with the unveiling of her debut memoir, Odogwu Girl: From Dreams to Reality.
The book was unveiled on Sunday at a colourful ceremony in Lagos, attended by family, friends, colleagues and several personalities from the entertainment and literary communities.
Published by Inemesit Hanson, the memoir chronicles Okonkwo’s journey from a humble background to becoming one of Nollywood’s most recognisable actresses. It recounts the challenges, setbacks and triumphs that shaped her career while highlighting themes of resilience, purpose and self-belief.
Speaking at the event, the actress said the book was written to inspire women and others facing life’s challenges.
“I feel proud of myself. I’m glad I’ve come this far, and I’m happy to have written something that will inspire, encourage and motivate women to keep believing in themselves, no matter what they are going through or where they come from. I want everyone who reads this book to leave feeling encouraged and empowered,” she said.

According to Okonkwo, the memoir reflects years of perseverance and unwavering faith, with the aim of encouraging young people, especially women, to believe that their circumstances do not determine their future.
The actress, who is also known for her humanitarian initiatives supporting women and youths, said the publication aligns with her commitment to empowerment through mentorship, education and personal development.
She noted that the book contains practical life lessons drawn from her personal experiences.
Reflecting on the inspiration behind the memoir, Okonkwo recalled losing her father at the age of 13 and becoming responsible for helping to care for her five younger siblings.
