In a phone interview with the Inquirer on Saturday, July 18, Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region 11 spokesperson Dean Ortiz said the collapse was caused by a landslide after weeks of continuous rainfall saturated the soil in the landslide-prone area.
