LIST: Road closures, re-routing in Manila for Sunday's UPI rally

MANILA, Philippines — Several roads in Manila will be closed due to the scheduled United People’s Initiative rally on Sunday, July 19, the Manila Police District reported.

Starting 5 p.m Saturday, July 18, road closures will take effect over the following areas:

Chino Roces Bridge Mendiola

Stretch of C. M. Recto Avenue from Nicanor Reyes St. to Mendiola St.

Stretch of Legarda St. from Figueras St. to San Rafael St.

Eastbound lane of Ayala Blvd. from San Marcelino St. to Romualdez St.

Meanwhile, starting 6 a.m Sunday, July 19, the lane stretching from Magallanes Drive from Jones Bridge to MacArthur Bridge at Liwasang Bonifacio will be closed off to vehicles.

The closure of the southbound lane of MacArthur Bridge, Quezon Bridge and Lerma Street will depend on the traffic and crowd situations on Sunday, including roads from:

Plaza Lacson to Liwasang Bonifacio

A. Mendoza St. or Fugoso St. to Quezon Bridge to Liwasang Bonifacio

España Blvd. or P. Campa St. to A. Mendoza St.

The police district further advised all vehicles affected by the 5 p.m road closure on Saturday to take the alternative routes as follows:

All vehicles coming from Romualdez St. intending to pass along Ayala Bridge shall turn left on Ayala Blvd., then turn right on Taft Avenue or drive straight to Natividad Lopez Street, before turning right on A. Villegas Street, then left on C. Muñoz Street to point of destination.

All vehicles coming from San Marcelino St. intending to utilize Ayala Bridge shall turn right on Ayala Blvd. before turning right on Taft Avenue to point of destination or drive straight to San Marcelino St., then turn left on UN Avenue to point of destination.

All vehicles coming from Ayala Blvd. (eastbound lane) intending to pass along Ayala Bridge shall turn right on San Marcelino St. to point of destination.

All vehicles coming from Carlos Palanca St. intending to pass along Ayala Bridge shall turn left on P. Casal St. to the point of destination.

All vehicles coming from P. Casal St. intending to use Ayala Bridge shall turn right on Carlos Palanca St. to the point of destination.

Detours along Liwasang Bonifacio will depend on the vehicular traffic and crowd situation, although the provided alternative routes are as follows:

All vehicles coming from Plaza Sta. Cruz intending to use the southbound lane MacArthur Bridge shall turn right on Dasmariñas St., before turning left on Juan Luna Street, proceed to Plaza Cervantes and Jones Bridge to point of destination.

All vehicles coming from A. Mendoza St. intending to use the southbound lane of Quezon Blvd. (Quezon Bridge) shall turn right on Fugoso St., turn left on Tomas Mapua St. to C.M. Recto Avenue to the point of destination.

All vehicles coming from España Blvd. intending to use the southbound lane of Quezon Blvd. (Quezon Bridge) shall turn left on Nicanor Reyes St. to C. M. Recto Avenue to the point of destination.
