A bedroom fire broke out at St George’s Park in St Julian’s earlier today, prompting a full evacuation of the building.
The incident was shared by the Civil Protection Department Malta, which said firefighters from Fire Stations 4 and 11 responded to the structure fire after flames were reported in a fourth-floor bedroom.
Firefighters quickly brought the blaze under control, with four fire engines and a turntable ladder deployed to the scene.
As a precaution, everyone inside the building was evacuated while emergency crews tackled the fire.
Two people who suffered smoke inhalation were treated by a medical team from Mater Dei Hospital’s Emergency Department and were discharged at the scene.
The operation was also supported by officers from the Malta Police Force’s District 8, who assisted with the evacuation.
The cause of the fire has not yet been disclosed.
