In Photos: Malta’s New Cabinet Officially Takes Office

Malta’s new Cabinet has officially been sworn in, completing the formation of Prime Minister Robert Abela’s government following Labour’s historic fourth consecutive general election victory.

During a ceremony held at the President’s Palace in Valletta, Ministers and Parliamentary Secretaries took their oath of office before President Myriam Spiteri Debono, formally assuming their responsibilities for the new legislature.

The swearing-in marks the final step in the formation of the new administration after days of speculation surrounding Cabinet appointments and ministerial portfolios.

With the ceremony now complete, attention is turning to the government’s priorities for the coming years, as well as the implementation of key electoral pledges made during the campaign.

The new Cabinet includes a mix of returning ministers, portfolio changes and new faces, with Robert Abela describing the team as one focused on delivering the next phase of Malta’s development.
