Forestry minister accelerates digital national park services with app
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni has called for accelerating the digital transformation of national park services through a newly launched application called "Ayo ke Taman Nasional" (Let's Go to National Parks).
In a statement issued in Jakarta on Thursday, Antoni said the digital platform is designed to make it easier for the public to access information and visitor services at national parks across Indonesia.
"This is a platform that we hope will enable people to purchase tickets and obtain information more quickly. Digital transformation is one of our key objectives, and we have now achieved around 93 percent of that target, further strengthened by the launch of this application," he said.
Through the "Ayo ke Taman Nasional" app, users can purchase national park entrance tickets, obtain information on destinations, and access various visitor services through a single integrated platform, he added.
Antoni noted that Indonesia is home to 57 national parks and 143 nature recreation parks, with visitor numbers continuing to increase each year.
He emphasized that the Ministry of Forestry has a responsibility to ensure that conservation areas provide visitors with a safe and comfortable experience.
"As Forestry Minister, I have a moral responsibility to ensure that the national parks and nature recreation parks visited by the public are safe, comfortable, and offer a positive experience for all visitors," he said.
The minister also underscored the importance of digital transformation in the management of national parks.
He recalled that when he first assumed office, ticket sales at several conservation areas were still handled manually through paper ticketing systems.
"When I joined the Ministry of Forestry one and a half years ago, ticketing was still conducted through a tear-off ticket system. I felt it was ineffective, inefficient, and lacked transparency and accountability," he said.
To address the issue, Antoni has continued to push for faster digitalization of services. He noted that 93 percent of Indonesia's national parks have now adopted electronic ticketing systems.
The ministry is also working to overcome infrastructure challenges in remote conservation areas through the use of technology.
"We have now implemented e-ticketing in 93 percent of our national parks. There are still several locations facing internet and electricity constraints, but we are seeking the most efficient technological solutions, including the use of solar panels, so that even in remote areas we can provide better e-ticketing services," he said.
