Detectives are investigating a stabbing attack on a homeless man in Bendigo overnight.
Police say a group of six teenagers set upon the 41-year-old in Bath Lane and stabbed him.
The injured man, who had been living on the streets of the regional city, then stumbled into the Sporting Globe pub on Hargreaves Street and collapsed, about 9pm.
He was treated by paramedics at the scene and then taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition.
Police say the group of teenagers fled.
Police have reviewed CCTV, spoken with witnesses and are appealing for anyone who has not yet spoken to police to come forward.
In a statement, the sports bar management said their staff acted immediately, contacting emergency services and initiating first aid.
"An incident of this nature is entirely unprecedented in our venue and the surrounding area, which has always been a safe and welcoming environment.
"We are fully cooperating with Victoria Police and will continue to provide any support they require," management said.
Last year, solicitor Isaac McLean was set upon by a gang of teenage boys in nearby Bull Street.
