Canberra man facing almost 70 sexual assault, violence charges
A 36-year-old Canberra man is facing nearly 70 sexual assault and violence charges after his arrest on Thursday.
ACT Policing said today that the man's Bruce home had been searched by officers from the sexual assault and child abuse team.
In a statement, police said multiple women had contacted them in late 2025 and early 2026 to accuse the man of various crimes while he was in relationships with them.
"The women alleged he committed multiple violent assaults against them beginning in 2024, including sexual assaults, physical assaults and strangulation,"
the police statement said.
He was charged with 69 offences, police said, including multiple counts of sexual intercourse without consent, aggravated assault occasioning actual bodily harm, aggravated choke and render a person insensible and aggravated common assault.
He is expected to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court today, where police indicated bail would be opposed.
Police are urging anyone who has or knows someone who has been affected by sexual violence to visit a police station or contact them on 131 444.
