MANILA, Philippines — Farm Fresh bolstered its roster by drafting outside spiker Jonna Perdido and setter Ela Raagas ahead of the new Premier Volleyball League season.
Perdido emerged as the sixth overall pick of the Foxies, realizing her pro dream and reuniting with former University of Santo Tomas coach KungFu Reyes, who serves as deputy to Japanese mentor Koji Tsuzurabara.

“I’m happy because Coach Kung Fu and I were together for about three or four years. It’s exciting to have him as my coach again,” Perdido said in Filipino.
Perdido is eager to make her mark in the pros after returning for UST in UAAP Season 88 following her recovery from a knee injury.
“I’m really happy because they trusted me and chose me. I just want to help the team in any way I can and share the experiences and lessons I’ve gained from UST,” she said.

Farm Fresh also selected another former Reyes ward in Raagas, who played under him in high school before suiting up for La Salle in college.
Raagas admitted she was relieved to hear her name called after waiting until the second round.
“While I was waiting, I was really nervous because it was already the second round. When my name was called, it was a huge relief. At the same time, I was very excited to play with the veteran players. Coach Kung Fu also coached me back in junior high school, so I’m excited to be under him again.”

Asked about following the path of former La Salle setters Mars Alba and Julia Coronel, Raagas said she is prepared to take the journey one step at a time.
“It’s a step-by-step process. Ate Mars and Ate Jules went through a lot, and I know their journey because I was their teammate. They’ve been role models for me. This is just the beginning of a long journey.”
Before the draft, Strong Group Athletics pledged the first- and second-round picks of Farm Fresh and ZUS Coffee to the Alas Pilipinas program.
Perdido promised to give her all whether she plays in the PVL or for the national team.
