Prime Minister Robert Abela was congratulated by several European leaders on his re-election while attending the European Union–Western Balkans Summit in Montenegro.
Abela was in Tivat for talks with EU and Western Balkan leaders, where discussions focused on strengthening cooperation, security and economic resilience across the continent amid growing geopolitical challenges.
The Prime Minister emphasised the importance of closer collaboration between EU member states and Western Balkan countries, particularly in light of ongoing conflicts affecting Europe and its neighbouring regions.
He also reiterated Malta’s support for the continued integration of Western Balkan countries into the European Union, provided they implement the necessary reforms and meet the bloc’s accession criteria.
The summit brought together leaders from across Europe to discuss regional stability, economic development and the future relationship between the EU and Western Balkan nations.
Alongside the discussions, a number of leaders took the opportunity to congratulate Abela following his recent election victory in Malta.
