Opposition Leader Alex Borg has revealed that the Nationalist Party is exploring legal avenues over what it claims was an abuse of power in the run-up to the general election.
Speaking on NET FM, Borg alleged that government jobs, promotions and Planning Authority permits that could have been processed earlier were delayed until just days before voters went to the polls.
He argued that once Parliament is dissolved for an election campaign, the government should operate as a caretaker administration and avoid taking decisions that could influence the electoral outcome.
Borg said the PN is examining possible legal steps over the matter, insisting that state resources and government powers should not be used to maintain political power during an election campaign.
The PN leader’s comments come as the party continues reviewing the recent election and outlining its next steps following the result.
