Kathmandu. Member of the House of Representatives and Chairman of the Shram Sanskriti Party, Harka Sampang, is set to face legal action for violating traffic rules after a video showing him riding a motorcycle while recording with a mobile phone went viral on social media.
Koshi Province Police Chief Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Binod Ghimire said disciplinary action would be taken against Sampang through the concerned police office after he was seen breaching multiple traffic regulations.
“It is clear that he violated traffic rules,” DIG Ghimire told media. “The subordinate office will proceed with the necessary legal process.”
The action follows the circulation of a video showing Sampang riding a motorcycle with one hand while filming himself with a mobile phone. The footage also showed him riding without fastening his helmet strap, a mandatory safety requirement.

Following the incident, Sampang said the accident occurred after he lost balance due to stones on the road.
The viral video has sparked criticism on social media, with many questioning the conduct of an elected representative responsible for making and upholding laws. Several users have tagged Nepal Police on social media, demanding immediate action against him for the apparent traffic violations.
Police officials have confirmed that the matter is being processed in accordance with existing traffic laws.
