The Yobe State Police Command has arrested five suspected vandals for allegedly vandalising railway infrastructure and transporting stolen railway sleepers in Gujba Local Government Area of the state.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, disclosed this in a statement issued in Damaturu.
He said the suspects were arrested by police operatives in collaboration with members of the Hunters Group at the Nannawaji area of Gujba LGA.

According to him, the suspects were intercepted while transporting the vandalised railway materials from Gujba to Potiskum in a Mitsubishi Canter truck.
A total of 85 railway steel sleepers suspected to have been unlawfully removed from railway installations were recovered from the vehicle.
The suspects were identified as Abdullahi Habu, 27, of Potiskum; Abba Muhammed, 18, of Buni Yadi; Salisu Adamu, 20, of Buni Yadi; Isiyaka Adamu, 20, of Potiskum; and Muhammed Muhammadu, 23, of Kukareta in Damaturu Local Government Area.
The police said investigation into the matter is ongoing.
