In the 2026 local election runoffs,
the centre right won in 3 out of 6 provincial capitals (Arezzo,
Lecco, and Macerata) and the centre-left in the other 3
(Agrigento, Chieti, and Trani), polling agency Youtrend said
Monday.
Considering the total of the 18 provincial capitals voting in
this round of local elections, according to Youtrend's
calculations, the centre left rose from 8 incumbents to 10 and
the centre right from 5 to 6, while the number of civic mayors
or those elected by other parties fell from 5 to 2.
In the first round two weeks ago the centre left won more cities
than the centre right but the latter claimed the bigger prizes
like Venice and Reggio Calabria.
